Rui Jorge de Sousa Dias Macedo de Oliveira (born March 27, 1973 in Vila Nova de Gaia, Porto), known as Rui Jorge, is a former Portuguese footballer, who played as a left defender. Having started playing professionally with F.C. Porto in 1992 93, Jorge moved to Sporting Clube de Portugal in July 1998. Never an undisputed starter with Porto, he did help the northern side to five national championships and three domestic cups. Jorge remained with Sporting until June 2005, adding two leagues and the 2002 cup. He played his final season, 2005 06, with another Lisbon club, C.F. Os Belenenses, subsequently retiring from the game and joining his final club''s youth teams staff.

Frank Smailes was an English cricketer, who played first-class cricket for Yorkshire, and one Test for England. He was of Yorkshire's main players in the club's outstanding years, when they won eight County Championships out of ten. Though Smailes was never a player of the class of Sutcliffe, Hutton, Bowes, Verity or Leyland, he was extremely valuable to Yorkshire because of his versatility. He could bowl either swingers as a new ball partner to Bowes, or later off-breaks when pitches were affected by rain. He was also a dangerous left-handed batsman who scored over a thousand runs in 1938, with centuries against Glamorgan and Surrey. He lost his best potential cricketing years to the cessation of competitive cricket during World War II. Born Thomas Francis Smailes in Ripley, North Yorkshire, and although he joined the Yorkshire staff in 1932, it was not until George Macaulay became unfit that Smailes had his chance of playing regularly for the first eleven
The 1962 Green Bay Packers are still considered one of the most successful teams in the history of the National Football League. This book examines how the team was built, exploring how four of the five assistants on Lombardi's coaching staff went on to become head coaches. The team was rich with personalities, from the glamour-conscious Hourning to the emotional Nitschke to the determined Starr. Of course, the strongest personality of all was Lombardi, who shaped these many unique individuals and talents into a team that changed the game forever. The Packers of this era won five championships in seven years, including the first two Super Bowls, creating a dynasty in the smallest market in professional sports. Despite playing in little Green Bay, the players on Lombardi's team became national heroes.
With a Preface by Alabama Football Coach Nick Saban and a Foreword by ESPN's College Gameday Host Rece Davis. In 2017, Alabama won its fifth national title during Coach Nick Saban's tenure. This is Saban's sixth national title win as a coach. He's now tied with Bear Bryant for coach with the most national championships. Phil Savage first worked with Nick Saban when they both joined the Cleveland Browns' coaching staff in 1991. They were reunited in 2009 when Savage became part of the Crimson Tide Sports Network as the radio color analyst. Since then, Savage has enjoyed an up-close view of the Alabama program's dedication to recruiting, its commitment to practice, and devotion to fundamentals. Through those years of observation, now comes his 360-degree perspective on Alabama football and Coach Nick Saban's unique coaching style, a style that has led the Crimson Tide to five Southeastern Conference titles, three consecutive College Football Playoff appearances and five national championships. In his words, Savage details Coach Saban's year-round preparation, his willingness to adjust and his belief in 'complimentary football.' The book offers a close look at their player development and practice habits and gives a glimpse of the Crimson Tide's approach of playing every single down like it is 4th and goal. With anecdotes from his days growing up in Alabama in the 1970s when the Tide was a consistent national championship contender, through his 20-year career in the National Football League as a coach, scout and general manager, Savage gives a rare look at what makes Coach Nick Saban and his teams so successful. You won't find another person who can intelligently discuss Alabama football in public better than Phil Savage. Together with Ray Glier, 4th and Goal Every Day chronicles how the Crimson Tide re-emerged as one of the true superpowers in college football.
Nebraska has enjoyed thirty-six consecutive winning seasons, made twenty-nine consecutive bowl appearances, and won five national championships, including three in the last four seasons. During that time, the Cornhuskers have had just two head coaches, Bob Devaney and Tom Osborne. Without question, this is the golden era of Cornhusker football, and Go Big Red is a celebration of that indisputable fact. It is much more than a trivia book-- it goes beyond the hefty and comprehensive media guides published each season by the Nebraska Sports Information Office. The book covers Nebraska football in a way no other publication has, with personality profiles, anecdotes, and original research, as well as questions of fact and trivia, some of which will test even the most devoted and knowledgeable Cornhusker fans. Some things you'll remember. There is a section devoted to the best of Broderick Thomas, the loquacious outside linebacker. And there are also some things you won't remember, or things you might not have known. Can you name all of the assistant coaches on Osborne's first staff in 1973? Can you list Nebraska's starters for the 1941 Rose Bowl game? Do you know how the 'Blackshirt' tradition began? Devaney was a master storyteller, and the book includes a humorous story or two of his. The program became a haven for walk-ons under Osborne, and the book includes an all-walk-on team. Though Nebraska is enjoying its greatest successes now, Cornhusker football was king long ago. And the book offers insight into that past glory, achieved by the likes of 'Jumbo' Stiehm, Ed Weir, and Guy Chamberlin. All-American Trev Albert, the Butkus Award winner in 1993, has expressed the meaing of Cornhusker football in the introduction, which is an integral part of the book's experience. Reading Go Big Red isn't the same as sitting in Memorial Stadium, awash in red on game day. But it's the next best thing.
Since its founding in 1925, the University of Baltimore has become one of Maryland's premier educational institutions. Originally organized as a practical solution for working men and women seeking a college degree, the institution developed rapidly-the School of Law and the College of Business Administration, begun in the founding year as evening professional schools, were joined by a day division and, in 1937, a junior college. Finally, in 1961, the university began its College of Liberal Arts to meet the demand for a relatively low-cost, liberal arts college education. Containing over two hundred black-and-white photographs from the archives of the Langsdale Library, University of Baltimore explores the school's history, from its birth in October 1925 to the present day, the eve of its seventy-fifth anniversary. From the founding of the first Greek societies and African-American clubs on campus to the anti-war protests of the 1960s, from the beginning of the sports program in 1928 to the championships won over the decades, the University of Baltimore has led a vital life and provided opportunity to a countless many. Through the images and captions contained in this visual tribute to the university, readers will meet the school's founding pioneers, as well as the administrators, faculty, and staff who have helped shape the university's past, present, and future, and most importantly, the students and alumni who have always made the University of Baltimore an exciting place to work and learn.
